PART DEVELOPMENT
You know the functionality and the aesthetics which you need but unless your product can be manufactured economically, repeatably, reliably and within the correct timeframes it will never achieve its full potential. As explicitly pointed in the description of our concept, we always take the necessary time to understand the customers’ needs, to improve, if possible, or of acceptable for them the part(s) and/or unit(s) they need from engineering point of view. We always evaluate the parts both as process suitability and design. If the evaluation shows that some of the above isn’t the right one, we always propose part optimization and/or process change. Designing castings is a specialist skill. Die cast components require specific features such as drafts , even wall thicknesses, and the avoidance of undercuts and isolated heavy sections. Extrusions are different case. Regarding assembly options we go to another universe. All of these issues can be easily overcome if you work directly with our team before you freeze your design. Costs of machining, surface finishing and assembly can also be dramatically reduced if we are consulted early in the design process.
Below you’ll find 3 examples of what we can offer in that aspect:
- Redesign of a cast part in order the risk of potential porosity in the sealing area, while at the same time reducing significantly the weight without reducing the strength and durability of the part. The final result: less material + less casting time + less poor ones after machining = lower cost
- Redesign of an extrusion in order the process of internal deburring in the threaded holes area to be eliminated from the production route, while at the same time reducing the weight and increasing the side strength of the part. The final result: less material + less machining time = lower cost
- Redesign of a cast part in order there to be no necessity of the second cast part at all. The final result: No second die + less material + less casting time + less machining time + less logistics cost + less assembly time + easier assembly on site + better final look = MARKET HIT.
